Dr. Rodriguez and the Board of Education are committed to hearing as much input as possible about the budget for next year. We all know that we have to control costs and be even more responsible in how we spend our dollars to support students. We value your opinion!

     

Staff

Debbie Fiorenzi has been employed with Trinidad School District for the past 24 years.

She has worked as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, cheer coach, drama coach, co-directs The Trinidad Children’s Chorale, and serves as the district’s Learning Resource Director.

As the Learning Resource Director she manages and monitors the Federal Programs, which include Title I, Title IIA, and Title VI. The director establishes a monitoring system to ensure appropriate implementation of designated programs while working jointly with the district financial team in grant development and annual financial reports. Responsibilities also include overseeing all district grants.

She works jointly with the Executive Director in facilitating the new teacher induction program and conducting needs assessment to align identified professional development for the district in the areas of curriculum and instruction.

Debbie participates in the development of the district unified improvement plan and assists the District Executive Liaison and Executive Director of Learning Services in reporting to Colorado Department Education required student information reports.

Toni Mangino has worked in the field of education for thirty two years including being an instructor for Trinidad School District and Trinidad State Junior College. She has also worked as an Educational Consultant for South Central BOCES and a Preschool Director for Alta Vista School.

The Executive Director of Learning Services works with the Superintendent in demonstrating that the District Vision and Mission are referenced in all curriculum and staff development activities and ensuring these activities are aligned with the beliefs and designs of the Board of Education.

This individual is responsible for coordinating the development of the District Improvement Plan, and complying with state and local reporting expectations regarding student achievement.   Furthermore the Executive Director is responsible for planning and implementing the student assessment programs as well as establishing plans for the administration of state and district assessments.  

Additional responsibilities include designing and assessing professional development aligned with identified needs. The Executive Director facilitates annual curriculum review and identifies curriculum content changes as well as works jointly with the Learning Resource Director in grant development and implementation.

The Trinidad School District No.1 Maintenance and Facilities’ Director is Jeff Roybal. His responsibilities are to oversee safe operation of our campuses that create the district. The campuses are: Trinidad Eckhart Elementary (K-1 grade levels), Trinidad Fisher’s Peak Elementary (2-5 grade levels), Trinidad Middle School (6-8 grade levels),Trinidad High School (9-12 grade levels), and our Administration office building. The 14 fulltime staff that create this department are located in designated areas throughout the district and our main goal is to create a clean, safe, and worry free environment for the students and staff. We work as a team to fulfill the goals set by the Board of Education.

Laura Papadopolous has worked for the Trinidad School District for the past five years.

The ELL/GT Coordinator provides various levels of support to teachers of English Language Learners and Gifted and Talented students in the district. The coordinator is accountable for administering or assisting in the assessment of these students according to state criteria. Within the classroom, the coordinator is a resource for teachers to guide in best practices for English language acquisition and/or challenging those high performing, gifted students. The ELL/GT Coordinator works with a team of professionals within the school to develop instructional plans that outline individual goals for the students. The coordinator is accountable for monitoring the implementation of these plans and for communicating all aspects of the program to the district Superintendent.  

Dorothy Stelitano has been employed with Trinidad School District #1 for the past 34 years since August of 1977. She started with the district originally as the secretary to the Superintendent and to the Board of Education. Several years ago, she became the Executive Liaison Director. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Executive Secretary for BOE, attending all board meetings & transcribing the board minutes; attending staff, Executive Leadership & Superintendent Cabinet Meetings; serving all functions as an assistant to the superintendent; coordinating the pupil count data and reporting it to the state; preparing and submitting all state reports electronically; preparing teacher contracts; updating the administrative policies manual; acting as a school district election official; and all duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Ted Griffis has been with the school district for more than 20 years. As the Transportation Director, Ted is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the district’s transportation program. His responsibilities include coordinating bus routes and drivers; driving an assigned bus route; addressing disciplinary issues on buses; monitoring vehicle maintenance for all district vehicles; and managing monthly time sheets for all transportation personnel. Additional duties include: maintaining monthly mileage reports as required by CDE; annual training of all transportation personnel, coordinating with the superintendent regarding school closures due to inclement weather; and ensuring district compliance with all transportation regulations as determined by the Colorado Department of Education.

Lori Galasso has been with the Trinidad School District for 18 years this June. She has lived in Trinidad most of her life, attending Trinidad Public Schools.

The Central Administrative Director’s responsibilities are maintaining employee/payroll records and compiling and processing time records for compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. Her duties include: balancing and controlling earnings and deduction totals; preparing, calculating, and generating payroll and filing of tax reports; gathering of payroll data for inclusion in financial statements; researching and preparing special reports for management; calculating and processing garnishments and levies.

Other responsibilities include: maintaining related records; recording the accumulation and use of vacations, holidays, sick days, and miscellaneous leaves of absence; benefits administration including workers compensation, disability, health benefits and retirement; administering a variety of voluntary deductions, programs such as 401(k) plan, 403B plan contributions and disbursements; administers the bidding process for annual renewal of group health insurance.

Kristee Coberly is the financial controller and she is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial operations. This includes processing and monitoring purchase order requisitions, designated grants, expenditures (accounts payable), and revenues (accounts receivable) in a timely manner. Reconcile and maintain monthly bank statements and financial records to ensure they are kept accurately, confidential, securely and in line with Colorado Department of Education requirements. Administer support to each director or school administrator, concerning their budget or finance reports.

Carolyn Villa is the Food Services Director. Her responsibilities include menu planning based on nutrition and student satisfaction, ensuring that kitchens are in compliance with all local, state, and federal nutrition and safety standards, and providing the kitchen staff with support and guidance. Before joining the school district in August 2011, Carolyn’s food service experience spanned ten years through various levels of responsibility, from cooking and washing dishes to owning her own restaurant. She believes strongly in the positive effects that healthy, well balanced meals can have on children’s learning potential and behavior.
